In this post, I share my favorite German Potato Salad Recipe I make from scratch in my home kitchen.  You’ll love this delicious spin-off of the famous Tony Packo Restaurant salad.

Easy To Make German Potato Salad Recipe

I usually make this recipe from memory. .I was sure to measure ingredients so I could share them. My family likes this dish served with sausage or on the side of a warm Ruben sandwich.   Whatever you serve this with be sure to use the Yukon Golden Potato variety. I think it taste like the original recipe.

This is a super easy recipe using just a few ingredients you may already have in your pantry.  Be sure to cook up the potatoes ahead of time for this quick side dish.

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Potatoes
  • onion
  • apple cider vinegar
  • sugar
  • flour

Below you will find the detailed recipe.  Be sure to take advantage of the printable recipe option at bottom of the recipe to add to your cookbook .

This recipe was inspired by Tony Packo Restaurant in Toledo, Ohio.  I don’t have the exact recipe but this one is pretty darn close to the original.

The Best German Potato Salad at Tony Packo’s

original location

Here are some of the photos from a recent trip to the restaurant.  One of my favorite things about the restaurant is all the Tiffany Glass Lamps and memorabilia on the walls.  Many famous people have traveled to Toledo Ohio and enjoy eating the hot dog as you will on the buns that are signed at the restaurant.

At Christmas time it is fun to stop in and celebrate with a hot dog combo!  They have a larger menu featuring alcohol and a brunch at the original location in Toledo Ohio Eastside.  Below are a few photos from the Hot Dog filled Christmas tree!
