Easy Strawberry Float Recipe

It really is as easy as it looks.  Feel free to use strawberries from your home garden or local market.  Judging by the mint garnish you know I am going to say homegrown is best!  It really is super easy to grow strawberries these days.  I grow them basically year-round but the harvest is best in Spring conditions.  The cooler temps really bring on a super sweet taste in most berry varieties.

Dessert for 2

This has got to be the easiest float recipe every using strawberries.  If you want to get creative you could always use my raspberry ice cream recipe and substitute strawberries to make homemade ice cream.  Today for this recipe I cheated and bought yummy strawberry ice cream from the grocery store.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 1 can of Sprite or 7-Up Soda
  • strawberry ice cream

Instructions

  1. Place sliced strawberries and 1/2 cup soda in a blender or food processor.
  2. Blend the first 2 ingredients until smooth.
  3. Divide mix between 2 chilled beer mug glasses.
  4. Fill glasses 3/4 full with remaining soda and top each with a generous scoop of strawberry ice cream. Serve immediately.

This recipe I thought of after discovering National Ice Cream Soda Day was this week!

Strawberries In My Home Garden

In 2017 I grew my very first strawberries from seed!  It was such an exciting adventure.  I am still getting a harvest from those beautiful plants that just keep on giving.

Fresh strawberries from the garden – of course, Grace Kitty is with me because she loves to walk the garden with me.  They are super easy to grow (berries and kitties!).
