The Tomato Seeds on a Dried Napkin Planting

A few years ago I hosted a seed swap locally.  One of the seeds submitted to the swap was this napkin filled with dried seeds.  It was stored in an enveloped labelled ‘577 Organic Heirloom Tomato’.  Honestly, I was not expecting much to happen if anything to sprout at all.  I decided to go ahead and plant the napkin in a starter pot like I do all my other tomato plants.  In the video below I show how I planted the napkin.

Can you imagine my surprise to find all these healthy looking starter plants?

I can’t wait to see what the harvest (if any) will be like.   To ensure they get the best start I transplant the seedlings to their own container.  Now they will stay in the greenhouse dome with the other tomato starters this year until it is time to get them outside in the garden.  If the plant seems to respond well to the conditions in the dome through the season I may try a few in this growing space.

Each one of these seedlings are removed and planted in their own baggy to grow up strong.  After May 15th the plants are free to go to new homes!
