Homemade Strawberry Sundae Recipe

Ingredients
  • vanilla bean ice cream
  • 2 cups of diced strawberries
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of heavy whipping cream

Instructions

  1. Clean and remove green tops from the fresh strawberries.
  2. Chop the berries into bite size pieces
  3. Mix with 1/3 cup of sugar and store in refrigerator
  4. For whip topping add 1 cup of heavy cream, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 1/4 cup of sugar to a bowl. Mix with electric hand blender until peaks form.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1/2 hour but no more than 6 hours.
  6. Dish up the ice cream, add strawberry topping and top with whip cream – serve immediately!

Fresh whip cream is the best!  I always have a small container of heavy whipping cream in my refrigerator for such occasions.

Home Grown Strawberries

Harvesting Strawberries in Autumn

I’ve been growing strawberries in my home garden since 2004.  My June Berry crop was one of the first plants I added to my new country garden.  Today there are a few dozen different varieties you can easily grow.  I’ve even grown a strawberry plant from seed.  I never dreamed I could grow a plant from seed but it was super easy and cheap.  Check out the post below for details on how to grow your own.  If you have questions please be sure to reach out to my on my website at BrenHaas.com.

I want to caution you that there are calories in this strawberry sundae so don’t eat too much.  It is such an easy recipe you may find yourself wanting to make it every day until you run out of whipping cream.  Do you have a recipe using homemade cream?  I would love to hear from you so be sure to reach out to me today.

Happy Strawberry Sundae Making,
