Stainless Steel French Press Review

I got my very first French Press Coffee maker on Amazon and I LOVE IT!  In this post, I share a video of my personal unboxing along with coffee brands I recommend.  I hope you enjoy the images and video below.  My Frist Time Making Coffee in the French Press My First French Press Coffee Maker I had to do a little editing to the video below because it was totally too long.  The video was long because I was readying step by step on the manual which isn’t written in English very well.  Once I starting playing with the classy looking and well built French press you can tell when the ‘light bulb’ goes off in my head.  After a week of owning this, I make the most delightful brews in minutes.  It is my choice for brewing many different brands in which I will share further down on this post. https://youtu.be/ToIngeOfBeI Don’t be surprised if I end up sharing another video of how easy it is to make coffee in a French Press.  It is my favorite!!!!  Be sure to check out my other Bren Haas Channel Videos on this site.  If you are on YouTube subscribe to my channel for more details. About the Stainless Steel French Press Stainless Steal Coffee Maker | French Press Style This is a french press coffee maker which is stainless steel.  Double-wall metal insulated coffee or tea maker with a 4 level filtration system.  You don’t have to worry about it rusting because it is stainless steel.  It is dishwasher safe but not needed.  Here are a few tips I recommend: Use water from a tea kettle that is just on the verge of boil. Never use boiling water or it will burn the coffee. Add hot water to the French Press to let the container get warm while the water for the brew is being prepared. Always handwash the press – do not put the kettle in a dishwasher because it is not needed. Expresso grounds work just fine in this product even though the directions say not to.  The 4 level filtration system keeps the grounds out of the serving brew. After checking this honest review I posted on my site and social media I hope you will consider purchasing one using my Amazon Affiliate link here. Coffee Brands I enjoy in this press include the following: Ground LavAzza Cafe Du Monde These are links to my Amazon Affiliate Account.  IF you use this to purchase I get a small portion of sale that goes back into my website / blog review content. Thank you for support.  I have purchased the Cafe Du Monde grounds at local grocery stores as well.  MORE COFFEE on my site Check out these posts featuring more coffee posts from this coffee lover! More fun blog post including recipes on my website blog under the ‘coffee’ tag!  Let’s Connect It seems weird calling this a coffee machine but it really is!  You will have to tell me if you have a French Press and what you think of it.  Do you have a favorite brand of grounds to use in the machine?  Stay tuned for future videos including a review of the pretty coffee ground tool I recently purchased to try some of the whole beans my husband uses in our Electric Expresso Maker. Can’t wait to have a cup of French press with you soon,

About Coffea Arabica Plant

Coffea arabica or better known as the Arabian Coffee Plant.  Who would have guessed I’d find such a unique plant at Aldi while grocery shopping?  Well actually, I am not because Aldi has some great finds.  In this post, I am sure with you my experience growing the Coffee Plant. About My Coffea Arabica Plant What a cute little plant growing in a coffee mug.  How could you just walk past something so cute at the checkout line?  I was surprised to see this unique little plant growing in a coffee cup so healthy.  The price was right ( $4.99) for such a unique plant and cup.  One thing that crossed my mind was if the plant didn’t survive at least I’d have a cute mug for coffee. Coffea Arabica ( Arabian Coffee Plant) There isn’t a whole lot of information on this plant when I do a quick Google Search.  I look up the keyword with the extension office behind it of course. I did find a nice little write-up with pronunciation included on the North Carolina Gardener Site.  The phonetic spelling is KOFF-ee-uh a-RAB-ih-kuh.  You know I am going to use my pronunciation app on my iPhone!  Grown as a houseplant in temperate climates with well-draining potting soil.  The Coffee Plant needs bright light and high humidity so it is going to love my dome garden.  I’ll have to remember that if I take the plant outdoors it is going to need partial shade. You don’t have to have a dome garden to enjoy this plant. Grow in organically rich-well drained soil and in about 3 years small fragrant white blooms will arrive in late spring. Berries are edible with a pulpy grape-like texture, but it is the seeds (coffee beans) that are sought after. Berries are picked by hand when ripe and de-pulped, with the extracted seeds/beans then dried in the sun before roasting and grinding to produce the popular beverage coffee. Details About The Coffee Plant Here are a few interesting facts I found about the plant online.  Be sure to check out my resources at the bottom of this post. Family: Rubiaceae Relatives: Ixora, gardenia, portlandia and pentas Trees are small to medium and can grow up to 50 ft tall.  The Coffee tree in home gardens are usually restricted to 4-6 feet with pruning. Coffee plant leaves are dark green and shiny. Stems of the plant can grow 1-4 feet bearing leaves, flowers, and fruit. The flowers are small and fragrant only lasting 2 days after opening in the morning. Roots of the plant (seedlings) form short taproots.  Later the roots can go as deep at 9 ft. The fruit is a drupe and called a cherry. Fertilize every so often with a balanced fertilizer such as 10-10-10 Resource Links Resources I found useful so be sure to check these out.  The Florida University Extension has a really awesome PDF you can download with facts about the plant and tree. Florida Extension Office North Carolina Gardeners State Extention Site University of Arkansas Extension Office – Plant of the Week Let’s Connect In conclusion of doing this research and sharing my plant with you, I look forward to keeping it happy and healthy. Give the plant a bright, window-side location during the winter in your home and move them outside to the shaded patio in the summer.  So far it has tolerated a dry late Autumn season in my kitchen northwest-facing window. I look forward to sharing this plant as it grows. I am really hoping to have some beans to grow more in the years to come. Please be sure to reach out to me on my website at the link provided.  Consider subscribing to my Newsletter to find out more as it arrives.  I’ll be sharing on social media these plants as they grow so follow on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. How I use Coffee Grounds In The Garden

Over the years online I’ve been able to find experts who are excited to share their experience in gardening to debunk the home gardening myths that keep popping up.  Nothing ‘erks’ me more than misleading information being shared online.  In this post, I hope to share with you what I’ve found out about using coffee grounds (and a few other goodies) in your home garden.  I will be sharing my personal experience using coffee grounds. How I use Coffee Grounds In The Garden   https://youtu.be/Ru48klKVz7A *NOTE: These are used coffee grounds. I do not recommending use ground coffee that has not been filtered or used for coffee.   Thanks for checking out this video today.  You can find it on my Bren Haas YouTube Channel. Coffee Grounds In My Garden Mornings in My Garden One thing I love about my coffee machine is that it creates the most amazing grounds to use in my garden compost and landscape.  The beautiful blooms on my climbing rose and red carpet rose right off the front porch of my home are due to the grounds (and a few other goodies) I sprinkle in during the year Coffee grounds are approximately 1.45 percent nitrogen, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and other trace minerals. As far as acids in the coffee, the roasting process actually removes most of these.  All these minerals help make the used coffee grounds a great green source for composts and even used directly in the garden.  Keep in mind that it depends on what type of coffee beans you use as well.  My husband and I love the brew created from the organic whole bean coffee we find at Costco.  We stay away from the flavored varieties because they leave an oil or grease residue on our coffee maker.   If it is leaving this on the machine imagine what it is leaving in your body or garden!   Pest In The Garden There was a rumor going around in one of my cat lover groups that cats will go to the bathroom where coffee grounds were spread.  This was not true… in fact, our cat Oppie loved coffee beans.  This cat would do anything for a sip of coffee and a whole coffee bean.  I had to use lids on my coffee cups while in the garden with this feline! I’ve heard that adding the coffee grounds to your garden creates a slug and snail barrier.  The critters don’t like how the coffee grounds are abrasive, so a barrier of grounds placed near slug-prone plants may just save them from these garden pests.   From my personal experience, I do believe this is true.  In a garden where I have hostas and low light, I use to get many snails and the one thing I changed over the years was sprinkling used coffee grounds in that area.  Mixing in other mulch to this space helps the coffee grounds break down as well. What I do with My Coffee Grounds When it is time to empty my coffee machine the medium goes right to my garden or the composter outdoors.  The grounds make a great green addition to my compost mixer if I don’t have time to add it to the landscape.   The photos below show an eggshell, water and coffee ground recipe I  throw into my landscape where the roses are planted right off my front porch. In the photo above I have added my grounds to the topsoil.  It is winter time so I cover the mixture with the leaves that are on the top.  When Spring arrives I can hardly tell I added grounds because it all breaks down so nicely over the seasons. I did a book review featuring a book titled Coffee for Roses.. and 70 other misleading Mythos about Backyard Gardening’.  I hope you check out my interview with the author and a quick look at the book in a video on my website.   In Conclusion Interested in finding out more creative gardening tips?  Come and  subscribe to my Newsletter.  I look forward to connecting with you soon so be sure to leave a comment on my post. Rethink Weeds with Dandelions and Bees

Beautiful Spring early afternoon in my garden was I sit weeding some of my raised beds preparing them for the veggies to go in soon after frost date of May 15 I could hear a loud buzzing. About 3 feet from me a fuzzy bumble bee was going to town on the new blooms of the dandelion ‘weed’.  The little bee really got me thinking about the removing dandelion weeds … why would I want to take that away from the little fellow?  Am I crazy???? Favorite Tweets About Dandelions So excited to see the little fuzzy bee enjoying the day that I had to share it on social media. @BG_garden you can eat young leaves, flowers can be made into lotion! #dandelion #gardenchat — Lil Raisin Acres (@LilRaisinAcres) April 30, 2015 @BG_garden I was excited when dandelions starting blooming across our four acres that we mow yesterday. Pretty in the spring! #gardenchat — Katie Pinke (@katpinke) April 30, 2015 @LilRaisinAcres @BG_garden My favorite explanation: “Weeds are just plants humans haven’t figured out how to grow in rows.” — Kara Kelso (@theideaqueen) April 30, 2015 I also found a great post on Preparedness Mama mentioning others who let the dandelions grow in their garden. Do you let dandelions grow in your garden?. In this article Preperedness Mama shares “When roasted, dandelion root has a very earthy flavor that is quite similar to coffee.” I hope you click on the link and try her recipe – I know I will be experimenting with this because I LOVE coffee!  Who doesn’t love coffee?
