In this post I reveal the mystery tomato growing in my raised bed garden.  This variety is an amber color that has won my taste buds over for the summer. Check out the video and more on this post.

About This Amber Organic Heirloom Tomato

No tag… but going by research from my own garden.  This plant was found growing in my gravel next to the old raised beds.  After adding it to the trellis where the peas grew this spring the plant took off with the heat.  It is the first to be harvest outside with in 60 days. This was a volunteer and not part of the varieties in this years highlight post.  Everything grown in this space is grown organically.

The bed has a deep layer of horse manure and straw mulch.  Next year I will watch for new growth from this same raised bed to see starter plants.  It is much easier to just use what comes up as a volunteer instead of saving the seed and starting early indoors with this plant.

The amber or gold color of the tomato is striking next to the blue kale and cabbage.  The flavor is wonderful and very low acid so everyone can enjoy.  I have been using these in my salad and pasta dishes early this season.  You can find my recipes on this website at Salads and Soups.
