About This Amber Organic Heirloom Tomato
No tag… but going by research from my own garden. This plant was found growing in my gravel next to the old raised beds. After adding it to the trellis where the peas grew this spring the plant took off with the heat. It is the first to be harvest outside with in 60 days. This was a volunteer and not part of the varieties in this years highlight post. Everything grown in this space is grown organically.
The bed has a deep layer of horse manure and straw mulch. Next year I will watch for new growth from this same raised bed to see starter plants. It is much easier to just use what comes up as a volunteer instead of saving the seed and starting early indoors with this plant.
It is always exciting to find new varieties of plants to grow. This mystery tomato plant just maybe the highlight of my summer. It is the first to produce outside and the harvest is bountiful. Happy Tomato Growing,
