Healthy and Easy to Make Tuna Salad Recipe

This is a tuna recipe I came up with while keeping it ‘CLEAN’ with my eating!  It has become a staple in my pantry to always have a few cans of good tuna and of course growing many herbs and vegetables that can be used in this recipe.

Clean Eating Tuna Salad Recipe

Below are the super simple and very clean ingredients needed to put together this tasty meal.  This is my spin on Tuna Salad using many healthy vegetables and lemon juice for flavor without mayonnaise.  Don’t get me wrong, I love MAYO but sometimes it is good to cut back and eat smart.  This recipe was originally shared on my SparksPeople page in 2004.  The photo on this post is from that old recipe share.

  • 1 can of tuna – in water
  • 2 hard boiled eggs diced
  • 1/2 cup of chopped celery
  • 1/3 cup of sweet chopped onions
  • Romain Lettuce
  • 1 cup of strawberries cut in half
  • 1/3 cup of shredded carrots
  • 1/3 cup of halved grape tomatoes (about 20 little tomatoes)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • splash of lemon juice

The recipe is super easy to put together and should only take about 15 minutes.  This is the perfect size for a family of 4.  I will include the detail directions and ingredients list on the printable recipe below.

Tuna Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • I can of tuna - in water
  • 2 hard boiled eggs ( diced)
  • 1 cup of chopped celery
  • .5 cup of chopped onion
  • Red lettuce
  • 1 cup of 1/2 strawberries
  • .5 shredded carrots
  • .25 cup of sliced red onion
  • .5 cup of grape tomatoes
  • season to taste
  • lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Drain the tuna from the can. Add to a bowl with finely chopped onion and celery.
  2. Add a slice up hard boiled egg. Set a side. This will be added to the leaf salad.
  3. Clean a 1/2 head of red lettuce ( romaine) and prepare the red onion, carrots, tomatoes, and strawberries. You will mix these items together and arrange on a serving bowl.
  4. Add the tuna on top of the salad. You will get crunch by adding the carrots on top before serving.
