Fun Facts About The Herb Stevia

The plant featured in this post is an heirloom from the Rare Seeds Company. I plan to save seeds from it once it blooms.

The Stevia plant is considered rare, possibly due to its renowned leaves which, once dried, are utilized as a sweetener for beverages and desserts. The stevia powder is known to be 300 times sweeter than sugar. It is not winter hardy, with the exception of zones 8-10, and originates from Brazil and Paraguay. Find More Tips Below:

    • perennial in zones 8-10
    • at least 6 hours of sun
    • easy to grow in hydroponics
    • process the leaves by drying for use in drinks and cooking
    • Stevia rebaudiana
