Grass in Fog in Late Winter Season
Capture Featuring my Pond with Fog

Video and images from my home garden during what they call a Foggy Freeze.

Foggy Freeze in my Home Landscape Video

I really enjoyed making this video.  The conditions outside were unseasonable mild, therefore it was fun to walk about with a jacket on.  My lens on the iPhone fogged up when I first walked outside.  Crystals of ice that formed on the plants and trees were really quite amazing.

About  Foggy Freeze

Curiosity got the best of me so I looked up online what that really meant.  I found on the weather.gov  site this description:

Tiny, supercooled liquid water droplets in fog can freeze instantly on exposed surfaces when surface temperatures are at or below freezing. Some surfaces that these droplets may freeze on include tree branches, stairs and rails, sidewalks, roads, and vehicles. Extreme caution should be taken if travel is necessary.

Freezing Fog: Freezing fog occurs when the temperature falls at 32°F (0°C) or below. This fog produces drizzle and these tiny droplets freeze when they come into contact with an object. But at the same time, there is sublimation going on. Ice Fog: This type of fog is only seen in the polar and artic regions.

Foggy Freeze Up-close

Below are a few of the images I took with my iPhone this morning.  The color of the plants and tree leaves are amazing.  The plants are still very colorful because we’ve not really had a hard freeze to put them into dormancy.
