Soaking up the Light in Kitchen

In this post I share a quick indoor kitchen garden update.  You will see first hand how I have my gardening products set up in video.  Check out my latest tips and tricks for growing indoors successfully.

Indoor Kitchen Gardening Update Video

I had so much fun making this video!  It is super fun sharing how easy it really is to grow a garden indoors with the right products.  In this video you will see my set up including a few products you must have.  I share links to to those products later in this post so be sure to scroll down and check it out.  Watch the video on my website and follow me on YouTube @brenhaas if you like.

Indoor Kitchen Gardening Update Must Have Products

Here is a list of the products I mention in the video feature.  Trust me when I say go with the ‘Aerogarden’ because it really is the product you can trust.  I bought a generic hydroponics after using the Aerogarden and WOW!!!!  BIG MISTAKE!  The Aerogarden makes it so easy for anyone to grow indoors with the latest technology.   I’d love it if you use my Amazon Affiliate link to purchase yours today.

Another must have for this set up is the Aerogarden Herb Pods.  I highly recommend this because the company stands behind their products.  I have been growing edibles for a long time and they do have the right varieties to help you grow success.

In the video I mention getting store bought herbs to hold you over until the Aerogarden seeds start to produce.  You can find these plants in most grocery stores.  Just look for the USDA organic label on the packages in your produce isle.

Kracky Method Herbs

The hydroponic clay rocks, jar and plant holder I hope to share details about in a later video so be sure to subscribe to my website newsletter email list. This method is called Kratky method.

Soaking up the Light in Kitchen

The self-watering container I move in front of the Aerogarden lights is a Lechuza product.  You can find more about this set up and how I grow herbs in it on my website at:  Growing Herbs Indoors with Lechuza.

Below are some of the lettuce containers mention in this video. Learn more about growing lettuce on my website.

Last Summer Harvest in Raised Beds

We have been facing a drought in my area for the past two months. Keeping up with basic chores has been challenging, especially as we watch some of the annuals we started from seed wilt away. In this video, I showcase the impressive harvest from my raised bed garden filled with vegetables and herbs. You won’t want to miss the list of tomatoes and other edible plants that thrived despite only receiving 0.38 inches of rain last month. Be sure to scroll down for my recommendations and accompanying images. Last Summer Harvest Video This video captures my raised bed gardens during the final days of summer. It’s not fancy or heavily edited; instead, it offers an authentic glimpse into how my plants are faring at the end of this dry season. Just a heads-up—watch your step to avoid tripping over the hose that’s been in use non-stop this month as we gather some Roma and Slicer varieties. The video featured in this post comes from my Bren Haas YouTube Channel. I encourage you to leave a comment if you have any questions or feedback. I would be thrilled to hear from you, whether on my YouTube channel or right here in the blog post. Edibles and More That Flourish in Dry Late Summer mini eggplant in container It has been almost 15 years since we encountered such arid conditions in my hardiness zone. I feel some concern about the potential loss of shrubs and trees due to these circumstances. Nonetheless, I have acquired valuable insights on plants that thrive during these tough times. White Carolina Strawberry Plants In My Home Garden Update

In this post I share a video update featuring the White Carolina Strawberry Plants.  These plants are growing happy after the first year in hardiness zone 5b.  Check out my video with tips on how I this plant is doing so well. White Carolina Strawberry Plants Update The video feature shows the plants growing happy in a hanging basket.  They spent the first summer in those baskets so I could easily move them around in the garden as the days got super hot.  I also didn’t want to get them mixed in with my other strawberry plants. By keeping the basket with these plants close to the other berries I believe this will help pollinate them.  Watch the video with my tips and tricks below: This video is part of my Bren Haas Video Channel.  Be sure to check out my website and leave feedback about this content. Highlights of Growing White Carolina Strawberry Plants The first thing that comes to mind is how cute the plant is growing in my home garden.  I love the light fragrant of these plants.  If I didn’t have the plant growing in a container that I could move around I most likely wouldn’t have noticed the scent.  This is one of the strawberry plants that did great in the dome during the winter season.  It was super nice to have green growing but don’t expect a bloom or harvest.  Novelty types of strawberries such has this pineberry are not everbearing. Be sure to check out my video and blog post featuring details on planting bareroot White Carolina Strawberry Plants. I found some great information about the Pineberry or this strawberry plant on the sites listed below: Illinois Extension Office | Try pineberry: A delicious pineapple-flavored strawberry Missouri University Extension Office |Pineberry: A Reintroduced Strawberry Let’s Connect I hope after watching this video and checking out these healthy White Carolina Strawberry Plants you will consider growing some of your own.  I can’t wait to do another update  featuring the harvest. Blueberry Varieties I Recommend In the past few years I’ve grown many different types of edible blueberry plants.  It has been a treat to not only enjoy various flavors but watch the different varieties that become available to home growers.  Below are a few of the varieties I recommend checking out for your edible garden today. Perpetua BlueBerry in Container Perpetua Blueberry Plant Perpetua produces two crops of delicious blueberries! The first fruit will appear in mid-summer, and then the plant will flower and set fruit a second time in the fall. The dark green leaves turn to deep red in the winter, making it a beautiful year-round addition to any landscape. In the past, I have used The Jobes Organics Soil Acidifier on my blueberries and hydrangeas.  If you can’t find the product locally I have included my Amazon link so it maybe shipped to your home today!  Jobes Organics Soil Acidifier on Amazon Bountiful Blue Berry Award winning variety with the bluest of foliage and we enjoy in the dome greenhouse year-round.  Pink-blushed flowers produce a big crop of large, sweet, juicy berries on a compact, mounded shrub. Perfect for hedges or planting in large tubs. Self-fertile, though planting with another variety may increase yields. Needs only 150-200 winter chill hours. Semi-evergreen in mild climates. This is a plant I grew from Monrovia. Bushel and Berry Blueberry Buckle What a cute little plant that is perfect for containers.  I’ve grown this for a many years after they were introduced to me by Star® Roses and Plants. Bushel & Berry® Blueberry Buckle is an amazing new blueberry bush that is small, bushy and totally ornamental. Leaves are small and red in spring and purple-red in fall giving it loads of color interest in the home garden.  The white flowers appear in spring, followed by a crop of tasty blueberries in early summer. I find this to be a cute and fun plant to grow in containers.
