Pumpkin Seeds Recipe

Handful of Pumpkin Seeds

This is one of my favorite recipes I remember using as a child and continuing the autumn tradition with my children.  I hope you will take advantage of the print option and add this recipe to your scrapbook for later use. If you prepare the pumpkin seeds correctly you can eat the entire seed. Below are the ingredients you need to roast pumpkin seeds.  The recipe which is printable is at the bottom of this post.

  • pumpkin seeds (clean )
  • olive oil
  • sea salt
I am not going to lie.. it can be a little gross getting the middle out and finding those seeds.  What a great activity to do with kids.  I do believe this was one of the first recipes I ever did with my family as a kid.

Volunteer Pumpkin in My Landscape

Does the pumpkins life begin with the seed or the pumpkin itself? I began to question this with all the volunteers I have been having over the last few years.  The image below is of a volunteer pumpkin that came from a seed left behind in my landscape.  This plant grows 3 HUGE pumpkins – for free over the last few years.

SURPRISE Pumpkin Seeds

You can imagine my surprise early in August when I noticed a plant that looked a lot like a pumpkin growing in my landscape right off the front porch.  The volunteer pumpkin doing great despite the construction and hot weather.  As you will see in the video the plant stretched across my front walkway but I dare not move it because there were 3 pumpkins growing on the vine.   Check out the video I made one morning in my garden while enjoying coffee and the hum of bumblebees on the flowers of the pumpkin plant.

This video is a feature on Bren Haas YouTube ChannelBasically, a pumpkin vine can grow up and around anything as shown in this video.

The driveway work has begun after weeks of being put off.  I’m really hoping this pumpkin turns orange QUICK!!!!   Here is the latest photo of the largest pumpkin growing on this plant that now is sprawled over 12 feet of my front porch landscape.
