Cactus and Succulent Rare in Ohio
The reason these cactus and succulent features are rare is because they can not live in Ohio without protection. For me, I use my dome structure. Before the Geodesic Bio Dome I use to use my greenhouse. It is a more natural setting for these to grow in the dome. Below are some of my favorite cactus and succulent I mention in this video post. Be sure to scroll down and leave a comment or question. I love hearing from you on my website.
Throughout the Creative Living with Bren Haas blog you will find documentations of many of the plants in this feature. One of the prize cactus is the Prickly Pear. Each year this cactus that is not rate in Ohio keeps putting off new ‘pups’. Be very careful to wear gloves when encountering this plant because of the pickers. More information about this plant can be found on my website under Prickly Pear. Find my story on where I first saw the plant and my very first growing experience with the cactus.
Another highlight of growing rare plants in Ohio thanks to my dome is the Madagascar Palm.
Above is a unique basket of cactus and succulents during the winter season in Ohio under cover.
The Botanical Garden Munich Nymphenburg conservatory is what inspired me. This is one of my photos from that trip.
