Perhaps one of the easiest and most rewarding plants you will ever grow that comes from a bulb. The Golden Yellow Giant Crocus is the first to show color in the landscape and garden each spring. These beautiful little rays of sunshine will even pop up in the snow as the days begin to get longer again. These little golden treasures make me hope we get some snow in mid-March. They bring happiness with dreams of the growing season to come. Check out this video feature below:Find this video on my Bren Haas Channel with other creative shares. Golden Yellow Giant Crocus Growing Tips

The crocus bulb is one of the many bulbs that are planted in Autumn for Spring bloom enjoyment. The crocus bulb was one of the first I ever planted in my Ohio gardens. Dig a shallow hole about 3 to 4 inches deep (with the pointy end up).
I am making note to add more beside my red tone Coral Bell perennials next autumn. The yellow popping up under and in-between this plant is just gorgeous!
Plant these little treasures close to your entry way so you can enjoy them no mater what late winter early spring weather may bring.

Crocus in Spring
One of the many things I look forward to in my home garden each Spring is the crocus in bloom. In this post I share how spectacular they are in the landscape. Crocus in My Landscape Video Watch close as my pup Oliver stops to smell the crocus. These bulbs have made it through 2 dogs and a few cats after planting in 2016. https://youtu.be/8Ux9Kw8MUTE Isn’t he the cutest… did you see the puppy? Crocus in Spring The crocus is featured in my latest video on YouTube which you can view below. The sun was out so the little flowers were open and smiling at me. I love how they can take the drastic weather condition in my gardening zone. I had this same crocus bloom with a few inches of snow on top of them. They are gorgeous peeking out of the snow. https://youtu.be/F2EejxXy57E Tell me what you think about the video and if you grow crocus in your garden. I am on social media @brenhaas and love to have you tag me to share your images and comments. You can also leave a comment and image on my blog post here. Find this video and more on my YouTube Channel at Bren Haas. My Favorite Growing Tip The crocus bulbs can be planted in Autumn to Winter in my garden as long as the ground isn’t frozen. I have planted as late as Mid-January and enjoyed blooms in late March. NOTE: The crocus is toxic if eating because of the Colchicine and other alkaloids in them. If you think your pet or child has eaten a bulb contact veterinarian or doctor. I share lots of photos of the crocus as they bloom mostly because I am anxious to share photos on social media and these are the first to bloom in my garden. Do you like crocus? Are you lucky enough to have the variety that blooms in Spring and Autumn? DO TELL! These images can be found on my Flickr Account where I am a Pro User. If you can see the link contact me and let me know and I’ll get you some information. The blooms only open up when the sun is out so it is fun to capture the little faces of the plant. Do you have a favorite color The crocus in the lawn looks like little Easter Eggs. I want to note that the bloom dies back before it is time to actually mow the lawn. Win-Win!
