The ultimate walkout landscape garden was featured during the (APLD) Association of Professional Landscape Design Tour. Walk out on the mighty waters of Lake Erie on this state of the art platform. Hard to believe that this is in Northeast Ohio!
What the heck is walkout?
I have never heard the term ‘walkout garden’ before someone on HGTV Ask & Share . What the heck does that mean? Of course I immediately Tweet out to the gardening community for their thoughts on walkout landscaping.

@BrenHaas What one walks out onto from the house, deck or through a gate. I look at it as a sort of foyer of the garden.

The Treasure of Edgewater Gardens
A few years ago I got to tour some amazing landscapes in Cleveland, Ohio during the APLD Event. I remembered most of the images I shared while on the tour using social would get responses questioning the location of this design. I found myself a few times having to remind myself I was in my home state. Ohio is better known for flat and fertile farmland not spectacular private gardens on lake fronts. The gardens featured in this tour were seriously hidden treasures of the Midwest.
Mish- Mosh Wall and staircase to the cliff-side was made up of recycled pavers, bricks and stones from site with stair treads constructed of recycled city sandstone curbing. I love how you can see the city of Cleveland out to the right in the photo above.
The Lakeside Area
The lake house – custom constructed blue-stone clad, weather proof lake house featuring blue-stone tiled flooring. The lake house is used year-round to enjoy the panoramic views of the lake and the excitement of the lakes fury during a storm.

This garden was created by Masterscapes, LLC – Contractors and Designers of Shaker Heights Ohio.
