Hard to believe this was Ohio but indeed it is an amazing garden in Cleveland Ohio.  Ultimate Walkout Landscape Feature in Cleveland Ohio a private residential home. It is a state-of-the-art platform feature on Lake Erie. I will admit I was a little nervous but as soon as I stepped onto the walkout I had no fear.  Check out photos in this post from this Cleveland Ohio residential landscape.

Treasure of Edgewater Gardens Featuring A Walkout Over Lake Erie

A few years ago I got to tour some amazing landscapes in Cleveland, Ohio during the APLD Event.  Most of the images of the tour using social would get responses questioning the location of this design. I found myself a few times having to remind myself I was in my home state.  Ohio is better known for flat and fertile farmland not spectacular private gardens on lakefronts.  The gardens featured in this tour were seriously hidden treasures of the Midwest.

Cliffside Area

Steps leading to the Cliffside garden

To get down to the cliffside garden you would walk down the beautiful stone stairs.  Along the edge of one of the turns was the first time I saw Prickly Pear growing in Ohio.

Stone Stairs in Landscape

Each turn of the staircase leading to the walkout had a different texture growing.

Perennials along the cliff side

A few favorites that grow in Ohio easily include daylily, Salva, and the sedum in the photo above.  Look at that Black Lace Shrub pair with yellow daylily.

moss and rocks
Mish- Mosh Wall and staircase to the cliff-side was made up of recycled pavers, bricks, and stones from the site with stair treads constructed of recycled city sandstone curbing. I love how you can see the city of Cleveland out to the right in the photo above.

The Lakeside Area

The lake house – custom made with blue-stone clad, weatherproof lake house featuring blue-stone tiled flooring. The lake house is a year-round place to enjoy the panoramic views of the lake and the excitement of the lake’s fury during a storm.

  2. I used to go to this house all the time. I love the Colombo’s. The yard definitely was not done when I was going there but it looks absolutely beautiful.

    1. I’d love to see how much they have done to it today. IT was a few years ago when I went on a garden walk event where this house was featured. To my understanding the house and garden is private and not open to the public.

Let me know if you have been to this location recently?
