I am horrible at remembering names of plants. I forget the official names of the plants I own… heck, even the ones I grew from seed! It doesn’t mean they aren’t special to me. This post features my Pulmonaria Perennial in my Spring shade garden. I am blogging about it with hopes it will help me remember its name.
Pulmonaria
This plant grows in my Spring shade garden which really isn’t much shade this time of year. I had read somewhere that the perennial will spread. It has taken a few years for it to finally start to multiply. The photo above features my plant that was purchased in 2006.
I love the leaves on this plant because it looks like it has paint on it. The little purple and pink blooms are a beautiful addition to the early spring garden. This plant is one of the first to bloom after the hellebore. The plant does not like the hot sun so thankfully by the time it heats up the tree above it has leaves to shade.
Pulmonaria Shade Garden Companions
I hope you can view this in 3D as it is on my Facebook Page.
Besides my felines that enjoy keeping the bunnies out of the garden, here are some great plants that grow well with the Pulmonaria.
- Hellebores
I share more about the beautiful Hellebores on my website. These are one of the first to bloom on my property before the dandelions.
- Primrose
Primrose looks amazing in the same shade garden with the Pulmonaria. In my collection, I have blue, yellow, white, orange and red.
