One of the highlights of being a blogger from the garden world is taking road trips with fellow writers and photographers. In this post, I’m excited to share a brief video showcasing a stroll through Lyndale Gardens in Minnesota. Be sure to check out the accompanying photos and think about planning a visit to this beautiful public garden.

Lyndale Park: A Scenic Gem in Minneapolis
Lyndale Park is a beautiful city park located on the northeast shore of Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. This vast green area is adjacent to Lakewood Cemetery and lies southeast of Bde Maka Ska. It forms part of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, a designated route in Minneapolis, and is one of the seven districts that make up the Chain of Lakes.
During this brief live presentation, Andrew shares his vision for this year’s garden theme in the Victorian layout gardens of Lyndale. He also explains how he constructed a trellis structure within the garden. This insight was shared spontaneously, so a huge thank you to Andrew for his generosity in sharing his expertise. In this video, head gardener Andrew Sawboy discusses the design work for this year.
This video was recorded and streamed live at the event in 2016. It isn’t the best quality of video but still worth watching to learn about the Lyndale Park Gardens. More of my videos are located on my Bren Haas Channel.
Highlights of the Lyndale Park Annual and Perennial Gardens
The Park is located juset a short ride around the shores of Lake Marriet, one of Minneapolis’ many urban lakes. The gardens include a rose collection, northern perennial garden and the Peach Garden, a small Japanese style garden that is a favorite among city residents seeking a moment of quiet or a beautiful place to take a photo.
The charming hand-woven retort has been featured in The New York Times. The hand-woven thicket structure is by Minnesota native Kelly English. She mentioned that her creations are inspired by the book Last Child in the Woods.
During my afternoon visit, I didn’t venture deep into the Rose section of the garden since the brightness made it difficult to capture photographs. However, I did manage to take a few pictures at the garden’s edge after exploring the vibrant perennial gardens nearby.
