Growing a tomato plant can be rewarding not only because of the varieties available but it is easy! In this post I share how to grow healthy tomato plants from seed. Be sure to check out the videos in this post for details. Find tomatoes I recommend in this post as well.
Healthy Tomato Plants From Seed
Tomatoes have got to be one of the easiest plants to start from seed. A few of the reasons I love growing tomatoes from seed can be found in this video. The video below also features step by step how to plant the tomatoes.
This is just one of the many ways I’ve started these seeds at home successfully.
Tomato From Seed
I grow some pretty amazing tomatoes each year from seed. Above are the Fire Fly variety that is super sweet and easy to grow from seed. Growing from seed allows you to have a wide selection of varieties. Check out these varieties I have grown from seed successfully.
- Brandywine
- Fire Fly
- Better Boy
- Sweet 101
- Red Racer
- Black Krim
Last year I was running short on time so I put a few of the last tomatoes in peat pots that were left in the greenhouse over the winter. I’m going to soak these old leftovers and start those seeds in the greenhouse using the planting method I shared in the video above.
These look pretty rough .. but it will be fun to see what these heirloom seeds will do for me after sitting all winter in the garden shed.
Let’s Connect
I hope you will stop back so I can share my tomatoes as they grow from seed. The weeks to come I will be visiting my favorite garden centers and bringing home starter plants to grow out in the traditional garden. I’m hoping to have a large crop for preserving this year.
