Dome Ready for Winter

It’s that season again when it’s essential to prepare some backup heating. As outdoor temperatures begin to fall below freezing and the lack of sunlight means passive heating won’t suffice for the dome, it’s time to take action. In this post, I’m sharing a brief video that showcases the heater being activated for winter gardening.

Turning on the Heater Video

This is a brief overview of how we test the heater to ensure it’s effective for winter gardening in the dome. You’ll notice how simple the mobile app is to operate when turning on the heat for testing. The heater is programmed to activate, maintaining the temperature in the dome above 45°F. It’s enjoyable to witness the air circulating throughout the dome in this video. Please take a moment to watch and share your thoughts!

The video feature is part of my Bren Haas YouTube Channel.  I would love it if you subscribed to my channel, so you get updates including live stream information.

Highlights From Video Share

.I’ll be sharing some photos I captured today after we turned on the heater. If you have any questions or would like to see more, please feel free to comment below and let me know!

Capsicum Onyx Orange Pepper was one of my favorite plants to grow in the summer so it will be spending the winter in the dome.

Red Stem Jade or Elephant Bush Plant has been a favorite to grow in the dome and greenhouse since I brought it home in 2009.

Red Stem Portulacaria Elephant Bush Succulent Plant

You can tell by the photos that the plants are getting a little weepy due to low light and cooler temperatures. This is normal and will turn around once we get closer to the Winter solstice.

Walk to the Dome

The heater is set to go!  We use a mobile app to monitor the temperature in this space along with the mobile app feature in the video that force turns on the propane heater.
