Bren Recommends

The Gardener’s Guide to Cactus ‘The 100 Best Paddles, Barrels, Columns, and Gloves’ by Scott Calhoun.  It is a must-have publication for anyone who grows indoors and outdoors.  This book written by Southwest gardeners has helped me in the Midwest north grow successfully in my greenhouse.  The book is a great tool to take with you on road trips when visiting gardens to help identify plants.  It would be greatly appreciated if you purchase The Gardener’s Guide to Cactus using my Amazon Affiliate link featured on this page.

I NEED This Cactus

These photos of the book in my office with grow lights on so the photos are pink!

On page 94-95 of the publication the Mountain Ball Cactus is documented.  Pink flowers with yellow middles are to die for.  I am on a mission to find this plant to grow in my dome garden here in Ohio.  Let me know if you see it for sale anywhere.  I will drive for plants!

On a garden tour back in 2012 I got to meet the Author Scott Calhoun.  He is super nice and very informative when it came to touring the gardens in Arizona.  I shared some of my photos from that tour on my Flickr Account.
