How to Identify Plants Using a Mobile Device
I don’t know about you but I am horrible with names. It can be a person, place, thing… and even a beautiful flower! In the video below I show how I use a basic search engine app on my iphone to find names. Not everything is perfect when it comes to using the web so be sure to scroll down and check out other advice I use to ID plants, trees and shrubs.

Why Is It Important to Identify Plants
If you are one of those who just doesn’t care what the name of the plants are I TOTALLY GET THAT! After years of using apps that claim the find the plants name I pretty much gave up. I run the network on Facebook called GardenChat and I got sick of seeing members sharing links to apps that CLAIM they can find the name of the plant. For the fee they ask I didn’t find any of these apps to be something I would promote.
Personally, I enjoy reaching out to fellow gardeners to find names of the plants and what their personal experience is. With that in mind it is best to follow links to sites you trust. My favorite sites are data from the Extension Offices across America. I have a list on my website if you are interested in checking out your state extension.
