The tradition of Groundhog Day was brought over by German immigrants to the U.S. in 1887. The town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on February 2 is where the official groundhog lives and forecast the shadow. Groundhog Day is not an official holiday however many celebrate it throughout the United States.  I can remember as a child in grade school in the late 1970’s wearing a Punxsutawney Phil hat and shirt to school to celebrate. My Dad love traveling across Ohio to Pennsylvania to tour all the really cool historic state parks.  I can remember driving through the town of Punxsutawney.  Interested in visiting and celebrating with the locals?  Check out their website at: Groundhog Day .org  What a great reason to whip up my Punxsutawney Punch Recipe.
