This is another recipe using mustard that I would have NEVER imagine putting together. In the past I’ve used gingerbread cake for my layered desserts during the holiday season. The gingerbread cake recipe below is super moist with plenty of flavor you will want to enjoy with just a dap of cream on top. Scroll down and check out the recipe below.
You wouldn’t expect mustard to be in this recipe but it really makes the ginger pop! I recommend making this up as an addition to the cook party menu. This recipe is easy to cut into appetizer size bites. I hope you will take advantage of the printable recipe lower in this post on my site.
For this gingerbread cake recipe you will need the following ingredients:

- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2/3 cup molasses
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- ¼ tsp. ground cloves
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 ½ tsp. Dry Mustard Powder
- 2/3 cup hot coffee
What ingredients are surprised are in this dessert? I couldn’t believe mustard is an additive but it really works!
