What a surprise to find this dahlia blooming in my dome greenhouse today. I honestly can not remember the last time I had a dahlia tuber winter over and bloom in this growing space. Check out my video with plant growing information below.
First Dahlia Blooming in the Dome Greenhouse
My third year of wintering my dahlia tubers over in the dome greenhouse is working out better than I could imagine. One out of 60 tuber sets was damaged due to being too wet. The reason for this was I didn’t get the soil from digging in autumn off of the tuber before storing. In the video below you will see the beautiful ‘Creme De Cognac Ragamuffin. dahlia blooming in my dome greenhouse. I hope to have more bloom in this space as we continue with the dry spell we are having. There is no doubt after watching this video that the plant is happy!

More About Dahlia and Dome
First off I want to note that this is not my first year growing dahlia flowers in the dome. In 2016 I wintered over a dahlia that had been growing in a container. That didn’t go so well because as the weather turned to winter the plant needed more light so I was basically storing it in a freeze safe space for the winter. However, this is my third year at successfully wintering over tubers that were dug up in the dome. I share about this on my website. See posts below:
