Hello, fellow plant lovers! It’s been an eventful few weeks, leaving me little time to tend to my green oasis within the 20-foot geodesic biodome. With April’s weather being unusually warm, I’ve been rushing in and out to ensure everything is well-watered and flourishing. Today, I’m thrilled to provide a brief update on my dome garden, which continues to thrive even as the temperatures begin to drop. In this post, I aim to convey the joy of enjoying such a space once it’s properly established. Be sure to check out the video and images in the blog post below.
A Glimpse Inside My Green Oasis: A Garden Update
As we transition from a warm spell to cooler, rainy days, I’ve taken the opportunity to close the glass and make sure everything stays cozy. Despite the clouds and drizzle, the rain has been a blessing, allowing me to collect precious rainwater to nourish my plants. Here is my video sharing these updates.
The video is from my Bren Haas YouTube Channel. Be sure to let me know in the space provided on this blog post if you have issues viewing or any feedback.
Blooming in the Dome Late April Highlights
Let’s dive into the heart of my garden. The tomatoes are doing splendidly, with a few fruits peeking out from the foliage. The mandavilla is in full bloom, its vibrant colors bringing joy and life to the dome. I’m thrilled to see a pink variety blossoming as well; it’s these little surprises that make gardening so rewarding.
One of my favorite discoveries was finding the nasturtium popping up from seeds we planted years ago. It’s thriving, adding a splash of color and nostalgia. The cannas have also started to bloom, a sight that never fails to delight me. And just when I thought things couldn’t get better, I stumbled upon a dwarf key lime shrub and a stunning amaryllis sharing space with my pepper plants.
The scent of citrus blooms fills the air, a fragrant reminder of the wonders of nature. Despite the lack of pomegranate blooms, the patchouli has survived the winter, ready for a fresh start with a bit of nourishment.
As I wander around, I’m reminded of the work that needs to be done—dead leaves to tidy, geraniums to prune, and the dahlia that needs a little TLC after some sunscald. But I’m optimistic; with a bit of care, everything will bounce back beautifully.
In this ever-changing garden, every day brings something new. From the unexpected blooms of a cactus to the vibrant hues of geraniums and petunias, each plant tells a story. My latest addition, a yellow canna from Aldi, is already thriving, proving that great things can come from humble beginnings.

The dome is more than just a garden; it’s my personal retreat where I can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. As I wrap up my tour, I’m filled with gratitude for this little patch of paradise. I hope you feel inspired to cultivate your own green haven.
