Black Tartarian Cherry Harvest e

In this post you will find images and video from the Black Tartarian Harvest.  This tree stands about 25 feet tall.  Using a Grove Manlift the harvest from the top of the tree.  Find a few ways the harvest was preserved below.

Black Tartarian Harvest with A Manlift

Using the ‘Cherry Picker’ (manlift – Grove AMZ 66) my husband restored to pick cherries. We had so much fun up over 30 feet high harvesting the Black Tartarian cherries this year as you can see in the video.  Be sure to watch the content below:

Black  Tartarian Harvest with Manlift video is on my Bren Haas YouTube Channel.

Here are a few images of the manlift we used to harvest the cherries. This Grove AMZ 66 was restored by my husband.  The vehicle doesn’t leave our property because it is so heavy and moves slow.  This is the PERFECT tool for tree maintenance on our property, decorating for Christmas and harvesting large trees.  .

At the same time we were able to see fireworks around the area up so high!

Black Tartarian Cherry Harvest Preserved

Cherry Preserves

To illustrate just how amazing the harvest was this year I am going to share many photos in this blog post.  Finding the quickest way to set up or preserve the harvest is important.

Once the fruit is picked it needs to be used.  The cherries on this tree get super sticky and should be kept in a refrigerator for no more then a few days after harvest.  With this in mind,  I did a lot of cherry dehydrating and canning.

While it maybe true this cherry has a very small seed and pit tools do not work.  This cherry took some time to remove the pit by hand.  STAY TUNED – my husband had a few great ideas for making a device that may make the task in the near future easier.

Generally, it takes time to prepare this fruit for canning or drying however, it is very relaxing.  Allow time to sit and enjoy the experience because the finish product is well worth it.  These cherries were so sweet and taste amazing in a pie or dried for salads and cookies.

I’ve been using the NESCO Electric Dehydrator for many years.  You can find one locally or on Amazon.
