Seed Starting After Visiting Local Nursery

In this post I want to share with you what was going on April 28, 2015 in my garden shed.  Enjoy photos of seed starting ideas and unique seeds to grow that I found at a local garden center. Garden Center Visit Local garden centers are usually a great place to find the perfect selection of seeds to grow in your area.  In my neck of the woods we have Benchs Garden Center. Benchs Garden Center.  I love the assortment of accessories and extra growing items they always have on hand almost year-round.   They do take a break between Christmas and February to get stocked up for the growing season ahead.  In the photo below you will see the seed rack located in the accessory department.  I share more about this location on my website.   Can you see the Benches T-Shirt in the photo?  Everywhere my husband wheres his shirt we get asked if that is our garden center.  Smart marketing really… you pay for the t-shirt to get 10% off every visit purchase.  The garden center gets free promotion ever where you wear the shirt. Seeds I Brought Home To Grow Below are the seeds I brought home from this garden visit.  I like the selection at this garden center because you can’t find them anywhere else really. That is what makes local garden centers unique. I started the seeds using recycled items and more.  Here are the photos below with notes in each photo so be sure to click on the image to read more. What are you growing this year?  You Might Like This Seed Share I love starting seeds indoors and share about this experience on my website.  Be sure to check out my latest post under the seed starting tag. Perennial Herbs in Your Home Garden

In this post I share some herbs that are perennial and PERFECT for almost any home garden.  Enjoy the images and my personal growing advice today. It’s Spring It’s Spring .. kind of sort of! It’s hard to identify with what is normal after the crazy winters we’ve had over the past few years.  Spring seems to just take its time arriving until one day summer is here. I woke up to anther sunset in the 30*’s in my Ohio garden but by noon the temperatures are wonderful spring 50-60*F. Good morning from my #ohio garden! #gardenchat http://t.co/mLNKavztib pic.twitter.com/74VSely5pp — Bren Haas (@BG_garden) April 28, 2015 The Anderson’s Market and Garden Center Visit  I love shopping for the local garden centers and today is extra fun because this garden center is attached to an amazing market!  If you ever get up to Maumee Ohio you need to stop at The Anderson’s General Store – their tomatoes are amazing year-round!  I love the vine-ripe tomatoes they sell on the front end-cap as you enter the market area.  Of course I picked a bundle up today during my visit and amused at the package I saw sitting close to the variety I purchased. The Garden Center  Things are starting to fill up compared to my last visit a few weeks ago.  There were a few shoppers checking things out in the trees and shrubs located in the back of the garden center. I of course went right for the herbs and veggies.  Lucky for me, they had some great varieties of herbs on sale: $1.99 for a 3″ container of some great varieties. The perennials looked amazing and a great selection featuring many Monrovia plants.  I brought home that succulent for my front rock garden.  It is the time to plant most perennials. You will have great results from those that have been growing outdoors like these in the photo below. Herbs It was exciting to find some new varieties today at the garden center.  It will be fun to add these to my container garden and share what menu ideas I have in store for them. Here are the herbs I was excited to see and looking forward to planting them in containers in my garden today. Let’s Connect Do you grow herbs?  I’d love to connect with you so please leave a comment below.  Share with me about the herbs that you enjoy growing .  Do you grow them in spring and summer? Happy Herb Growing,
