One of my favorite pastimes is feeding the fish in my ponds. Today, we’re taking a stroll to the ¼ acre pond to feed the fish and discuss ways to maintain its health. We’ll also wander over to the landscaped area where I have Rose of Sharon blooming and a few Green Giant Thujas. In the attached vlog, you’ll see how everything is growing, along with my personal tips for nurturing plants. Additionally, you’ll get a glimpse of a new sunflower variety called Sunfil Purple that I’m cultivating in my cut flower garden.

Exploring Our ¼ Acre Pond in Ohio

Join me as we stroll around the ¼ acre pond that we have been nurturing for the past 22 years in Ohio. You’ll get to see how we feed the fish and witness the health of this 15-foot deep, man-made pond. I’ll share my personal tips for keeping the pond thriving, along with some gardening insights. Additionally, the video highlights a few of my favorite shrubs and trees, which I’ll mention below in this post. Be sure to check out the new Sunfil sunflower I’m cultivating this summer!  Did I mention I have a serve rash from poison ivy I encountered about 4 days ago… OUCH!!!

Highlights of Todays Vlog

In this video, I talk about the blue product we’ve been using in our pond for several years. While we’ve tried many brands over the years, the one we’ve been using for around five years has been incredibly effective in controlling algae growth. As mentioned in the video, the blue color actually shades the pond, preventing new algae and unwanted plants from growing by blocking sunlight. It’s crucial to read the labels on all products you use in your home and garden.
