Beautiful day in Northwest Ohio as we drove out to pick up microbes for our 1/4 acre pond. Microbes are very cool… I’ll have to blog about them in a later post. On this trip I was excited to spot milkweed grouping growing in the driveway landscape of Oak Park Water Gardens where we purchase our microbe product locally. As I got closer to the milkweed to take a photo to share I noticed a wee little village hidden in the side of the landscape rock.
Oak Park Water Gardens is located in the Oak Openings region of Northwest Ohio. It is a scenic drive loaded with plenty of woodlands and wildlife and always exciting to visit. I usually enjoy walking the perennials and checking out the water garden plants they have but we were in a rush during this visit with all that needs to be done before the party in my garden this coming weekend. I stayed back at the car while hubby picked up the pond goods.
Trust me… the blue hardscaping in the front of the garden center was ‘beckoning’ me. The owners always have the prettiest accessories to welcome nature to your garden like birdhouses and small water features.
Located in the driveway there was a maybe 4’x6′ landscaped garden located in the rocks. This is where I spotted this cozy little village near the milkweed. Creative and with pollinators in mind this garden was attracting butterflies and a few bees. I snapped a few photos with my iphone to share on my blog today.
I hope you are inspired to think ‘wee’ and maybe create your own miniture garden in the most unusual location of your garden. Letting small groupings of herbs and ground cover blossom is a great way to attract pollinators that will only add more harmony to your gardens.
