fireworksFourth of July official means summer is here in my home garden.  My family and I enjoy being outside in the sun and under the stars taking in the gardens and enjoying each others company.  Our family and friends know we love to celebrate Independence Day with food, fireworks, and laughter.  In today’s post, I’m sharing a few tips that will help you create the perfect outdoor party this summer.  I’ve also got some great recipes to share that will create a celebration for your taste buds so be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page for the images and links!

Tips for Creating a Perfect Outdoor Party

Watermelon on 4th of July

  • Pop with Pattern: Pattern is a fun way to give your table personality. Use melamine plates for outdoor entertaining. They’re lightweight, break-resistant and available in lots of great designs like bold ikats, classic stripes, or feminine florals.  If you can’t find printed dinnerware go with white plants and decorate with fabric on the table and with napkins.

Tiki Torch on Table

  • Master the mood: Lighting and music are two of the most important things for creating an ideal party setting.  Tabletop fire pieces at the center of your table to create an intimate environment without a smoky mess when combined with TIKI Clean Burn Torch Fuel.  And of course, music sets the mood. Try kicking off the party with some jazz and then as the night progresses, turn to your favorite pop hits to keep things fun.
  • Create Comfort: When you’re outdoors, you want to enjoy the evening as long as possible and that means keeping guests comfortable. Drape a few chairs with a blanket or throw so that when the temperature dips, guests can wrap themselves in an extra layer of warmth and keep the conversations flowing.

4th of July Highlights

Another really fun thing my husband and I enjoy doing now that the kids are older drives around the countryside during the 4th of July celebrations to see all the firework displays.  We have the best seat in the house in the Miata convertible.

Drive to see Sunset

A Fourth of July I will never forget was when our family from Washington State came to visit.  We had a huge pig roast, fireworks and more.
