Ingredients

  • 3 medium sweet onions

  • 4 Ingredient
  • 1 pound ground beef

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 24 slices of pre-cooked bacon

  • 1/4 cup green onion (chopped and diced for garnish)

Directions

  • Cut onions by removing ends with stem and peeling away the outer layer.  Slide your knife from one rounded end into the core of the onion to create a cut in each layer.  Use your fingers to loosen each layer creating like an onion shell from each.

  • Prepare the ground beef in your favorite skillet.  Drain grease before adding the BBQ sauce to this mix. Salt and pepper if needed.

  • Spoon the meat filling into each onion rounded end creating almost like a bowl. Wrap the onion 'bomb' with bacon - you may have to secure with a toothpick.

  • If you want the onion bomb to be crispy you can place them on the Oven Air Fryer rack to cook.  Otherwise put these into your favorite oven ready plate.  The plate or rake should be in the middle of the oven air fryer before cooking at 375*F for about 10-12 minutes.  Each appliance is different so keep and eye on the bacon making sure it is not burning.

  • Remove from oven - add the remaining BBQ sauce to the outside of each bomb.  Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes at 400*F .

  • Let cool because the BBQ sauce can be extremely hot to taste.  Garnish with the green onions.

  • If you are baking these in an oven and not Oven Air Fryer appliance you will need to adjust cook time.
