One of my favorite hobbies is to take photos of just about everything. Jennifer Nichole Wells who hosts one of my favorite photography blogs is hosting a ‘One Word Photo Challenge’. This weeks color is one of my favorites in the garden and so my image comes from my early Spring garden border.
Creeping phlox is an awesome ground cover and is one of the first mass color to bloom in my garden each spring. This perennial can reach up to 6″ height and 2′ wide in landscape plantings and it sure to make a bold statement especially the purple variety. This plant does best in full sun and requires a little cutting back after it is done blooming to encourage new growth. Creeping phlox is excellent in rock gardens and attracts butterflies.
