Over the Christmas season we were gifted some amazing homemade treats. One such gift was a jar full of homemade cinnamon vanilla candied almonds that I’ve cherished all the way into the New Year.  The calorie count really isn’t that bad so why not enjoy this treat throughout the Winter into Spring.  Below is the recipe for New Year Cinnamon Vanilla Candied Almonds that you could create and give as a gift.

Cinnamon Vanilla Candied Almonds

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Pure Almond Extract
  • 3 cups all-natural whole almonds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. In a medium bowl, combine sugars, cinnamon, salt and cayenne pepper; set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk egg white until frothy, then whisk in vanilla and almond extracts. Add almonds and stir to coat. Then add sugar mixture and gently stir to coat.
  3. Evenly spread almonds onto prepared sheet pan. Place in oven for about 65-75 minutes, gently stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely and keep in an airtight container.
