It is so awesome to be harvesting strawberries in Mid-July here in my Ohio garden.  It use to be we only enjoyed these delicious treats during the early Summer days but thanks to the ever-bearing varieties and confusing plants in my geodesic biodome I’m able to harvest an extra handful or two this time of the year.   In today’s post, I’m sharing a yummy Strawberry Drink Recipe recipe I had to give a try after clicking on the ‘heart’ on this Instagram share.

Home Grow Berries

And you thought mixing up this fun drink would be enough of a celebration – now you can grow your own berries.  Get the kids involved when growing their own berries.  You can find the varieties I recommend on my website under growing Strawberries!

It is so easy to grow berries in containers as long as you pick the right variety and be sure the plant gets at least six hours of sunshine.  I have a tendency to over water mine in the dome and amazing enough I have YET to kill the Ozark variety I’ve been growing in a container for about 2 years now.

Strawberry Drink Recipe

I love this drink served with a metal reusable straw… it really gets cold in this frozen drink.  Almost like a smoothie but not as thick is what you will get if you mix it correctly.  I use my hand emersion blender for this drink.

Mix it with your favorite liquor for an adult Strawberry drink!  I have tried a little rum in this mix and it awesome.  Of course, keep it away from the kiddos.  Once they try the version in the recipe above it will be their favorite special day drink.
