Hellebore has been the highlight of my Spring since 2005 after adding this perennial to my shade garden.  In this post, I highlight Hellebore in my Spring Home Garden.

Hellebore in my Spring Home Garden

Earlier this week someone on Twitter asked me about Hellebores and I mentioned I would make a video.  Here is my video sharing my hellebore growing in my home garden.

WHY Grow Hellebore

Maybe the most popular reason to grow this perennial is it is very easy to grow.  Once the root system is established it basically cares for itself. Another selling point for most Midwest gardeners is it is deer and rabbit resistant. The primrose is super low maintenance.  I really do nothing to it but watch it bloom.  The other perennials in that garden cover the foliage as it dies back in the summer.  Who could say no to an amazing flower that arrives before anything else in the garden?

Primrose in my Spring Garden

I love taking photos of my hellebore collection.  I only have 3 different varieties at this time but it is always exciting because they are my first real perennial flower to bloom each spring.
