This is an exciting post for me because it is the first time I have grown German Chamomile herb plant.  In this post I share a few tips and tricks to growing this herb successfully.  Be sure to check out the photos and a videos below.

Growing A German Chamomile Herb Plant Video

It is funny how I came across the plant at a cute little garden center this spring.  In a little 3″ container out along Erie Shores at Bergman Orchards  I wasn’t searching for the plant, in fact I’ve got a few seed packages at home.  I do believe a few years ago I started some in a container but didn’t have much luck.  In the video below I share where I found the German Chamomile and what my plans are!

German Chamomile Herb Facts

Herbs in my home garden are some of my favorite plants year round.  I grow many herbs in the dome greenhouse.  German Chamomile is a really cute plant that grows super easy if planted in the right conditions.  The plant produces a tiny daisy like flower that grows on a thin tall green stem.  The flower can be used fresh infused to make tea.  The height of the plant can reach up to 3 feet tall.  I am hoping it will winter over in my home garden so stay tuned for updates next spring.

The Plant Popping Up in Path

Above is an image of one of the many ‘mystery’ plants coming up in the stone path just a foot or so from where the German Chamomile grew last year. As you can tell by my latest video I am really hoping this plant reseeded.  This may have been in the top five of my favorite herbs last summer.  Check out the video to see what the reseed of this herb looks like.

Just in case this isn’t the right plant I am going to start some of these seeds in the herb box later this week.  I can always find this herb as a starter plant at a few of my favorite garden centers as well.

  1. My chamomile reseeded and I have plants all over the place!

    1. There is something called ‘mayweed’ that looks just like the chamomile. My mystery plants just bloomed and I am very sure they are from the original german chamomile I had in the bed last year. There are varieties out there that do not reseed if you don’t like having all the new plants ever where! Thanks for sharing with me.
