Garden Journal Book Review
In this post I share my personal experience with documenting in writing (you know… old school with pen in hand) and how it is important to continue that tradition. I’m also giving you the chance to enter a giveaway featuring The Garden Journal, Planner and Log Book by Joy Kieffer so you can begin documenting along with me in 2016.
Garden Journal Book Review
I fell in love at first glace of the colorful cover on this garden journal book. Many of these colorful veggies I have grown in my own home garden or they are on my wish list. Unfortunately at the time I do not have a hand written journal to share about that experience. With the past 9 years of the online / social media explosion and working so hard to document digitally I put my hobby of documenting on paper in journal on hold. With inspiration and guidance from this publication that I will continue that trend I sat aside for many years.

I can’t wait to hear what everyone will be growing in 2016 – isn’t it exciting?! Wishing you good luck in the book giveaway going on this week and please be sure comment blow.
Happy New Year!
I plan on growing more houseplants, of course.
of course…. and I look forward to your shares about those new houseplants Lisa! Happy New Year Gardening.
I love the idea of creating a garden journal. I want to grow a pickle garden this year. Imagine all the fruits vegetables and herbs needed for a great jar of pickles growing fresh in the garden, makes me giggle.
Oh Happy Day
I love that Lili – cucumbers are super easy to grow and nothing beats your own home canned pickles! Happy Gardening!
As a teacher of horticulture I rarely get time to try anything different in the garden. Takes me all I can just to keep the weeds in check and grass cut. This year though I hope to remove the lawn, put in raised beds and grow fruit and veg. Of paricular interest and easily grown in Ireland are Oca, Garlic, Ginger and Blueberries all of which I love and hope to grow. Wouldn’t mind keeping a couple of chickens too but fear my garden isn’t big enough for all ?????
The merits of keeping a journal are regularly mentioned to my hort students (preached some might say) Currently I do have lots of notes – plants on a Wish List, Maintenance Schedules, lists of bulbs planted and where but alas my system lacks what this planner, journal and log book would give – order and all under the one cover. Wonderful idea and every gardener should have a copy on their potting shed shelf. ?
This is great information… thank you for sharing with us Ena!
Haha I love this idea And who doesnt love pickles ?
I’m scheduling a live interview with the Author so we can show and tell how we are documenting our gardens using this publication. I should have the interview date posted this week.
I hope to grow plenty of pretty flowers and hopefully start a small veggie garden.
I definitely need a better way to keep track of my gardens.
I hear ya Karen….. I rely on my phone way to much!
I am trying some new plants from Baker Heirloom seed. A new hot pepper and an all edible pea I am growing both in containers. Also trying a different way I plant this year on my raised bed and adding a new bed of more herbs
Great to connect Nancy – Edible peas grown in containers sounds wonderful. I hope you will share more about those varieties and how they grow online too!
I want to grow sweet potatoes and celery this year. I would love to keep better track of what I do. Thanks
Thanks for stopping by Nancy … I love growing sweet potatoes. I have some I need to harvest in my dome this week so I will be sure to share it with you on my site!
I would love to grow tomatoes this year!
You can grow tomatoes …. I will help you! Lets connect -are you on Twitter? Tweet me and be sure to follow my blog because I’m posting about tomatoes this coming week.
I love it! A pickle garden! Dill pickle experiments were one of my first successful gardening efforts. A lot of fun, and a year’s rewards. My conclusion was, the more garlic, the better.
I love garlic… and this is my first year growing it in my garden.
Was the winner announced Bren? Mad curious who the lucky person is
